Inflation down

The Department of Census and Statistics states that monthly consumer inflation in the country has decreased.

The Department of Census and Statistics has released the National Consumer Price Index and Monthly Consumer Inflation of Sri Lanka for the month of August 2024 today (Sept. 24).

Accordingly, inflation in the country, which was reported at 2.5% in July 2024, has decreased to 1.1% for the month of August 2024.

Headline inflation in the food category, which was reported at 2.9% in July 2024, has decreased to 2.3% in August 2024.

Similarly, headline inflation in the non-food category, which was 2.2% in July 2024, has decreased to 0.2% in August 2024.
